Accessibility Statement

Drive Standard Garage is built for every sim racer, including racers who use assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work.

We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit, so the status below is our own honest assessment.

1. How the interface is built

Every interactive control is reachable and operable by keyboard, with visible focus that follows the reading order. Dialogs trap focus while open and return it when closed. Nothing requires a mouse, hover or a specific gesture.
Semantic landmarks, headings and lists, accessible names on icon-only controls, descriptive link text, alternative text on meaningful images, and ARIA only where native semantics fall short. Tested with VoiceOver and NVDA.
A dark, high-contrast palette targeting at least 4.5:1 for text and labels. Color is never the only way information is conveyed, including for focus and error states.
Layouts reflow from small phones to large desktops without horizontal scrolling, stay usable at 200% zoom, and work in either orientation with comfortably sized touch targets.
Form fields have visible, associated labels (never placeholders as labels), requirements described in text, and validation errors shown next to the field and announced.

2. Motion and visual effects

The default interface keeps animation minimal. Some optional garage themes add decorative effects such as blinking cursors, pulsing highlights or floating panels; those are labeled "Effects" in the theme picker and choosing one is always your decision.

Before an effects theme is applied the first time, we describe what it does and offer reduced motion, continue, or cancel.
Every effects theme has a reduced-motion version at no extra cost that keeps the colors and artwork but switches off blinking, pulsing and looping animation.
Your operating system's reduced-motion setting is honoured by default and can be overridden under Motion & visual effects in your dashboard; the choice is saved to your account.
No effect is designed to flash rapidly; decorative motion is slow, low-contrast and small in area, and functional feedback keeps working in reduced motion. Nothing auto-plays with sound.

3. Games and interactive motion

Drive Standard Garage Track Trial is an optional retro racing game. Because it is animation-heavy it is kept separate from the rest of the interface and never starts on its own.

Before your first race we describe the moving lights, changing light levels and fast motion, so you can decide before anything animates.
Motion includes a slow, fixed-pace starting-light sequence, a gradual day-to-night change, brief speed lines while boosting and short screen wipes. Nothing is designed to strobe.
Nothing plays sound until you start; music can be switched off and music and engine volume are controlled separately.
It can be played with keyboard or on-screen touch controls and paused, restarted or quit at any time. Nothing elsewhere on the platform requires playing it.

4. Known limitations

Some content comes from members and from third-party sites, so we cannot guarantee that member-submitted photos carry descriptive alternative text or that external listings are accessible. We prompt members to write helpful descriptions and keep improving these flows.

5. Feedback and ongoing work

If you hit an accessibility barrier, email support@drivestandardgarage.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We will acknowledge it as promptly as we reasonably can and tell you what we plan to do. If you need information in an alternative format, ask and we will provide it where reasonably possible.

Accessibility checks are part of building features rather than a later cleanup pass, and include automated checks plus manual keyboard and screen reader testing on key flows. We have not commissioned an independent audit yet and will update this page when that is scheduled. This statement is reviewed at least annually and after significant redesigns.
